Comprehensive chimney care for your home's safety and efficiency

Local Chimney Sweep And Cleaning

Creosote builds up every time you burn wood - and it's the #1 cause of chimney fires. We clean the full flue system from top to firebox, removing soot, glazed creosote, and blockages so your chimney draws properly and your family stays safe.

Chimney Inspection

Level 1, 2, or 3 - we match the inspection to the situation. Buying a home? Level 2 with video. Annual checkup? Level 1 covers it. We document everything with photos and give you a clear report, not a sales pitch.

Chimney Repair

Cracked crowns, crumbling mortar joints, damaged flue tiles - we fix what's broken before it becomes a bigger problem. Most repairs take a day or less, and we'll show you exactly what needs work before we start.

Chimney Cap Installation

A chimney without a cap is an open invitation for rain, raccoons, and downdrafts. We install stainless steel and copper caps with built-in spark arrestors, custom-sized to fit your flue opening exactly.

Chimney Liner

Older chimneys often have cracked clay tiles or no liner at all - both are fire hazards. We install stainless steel and cast-in-place liners that meet current code and actually improve your draft.

Chimney Masonry Repair

Brick and mortar don't last forever, especially in humid climates. We repoint deteriorated joints, replace spalled bricks, and match existing materials so the repair blends in. Catches water problems before they reach your interior walls.

Chimney Flashing Repair

That dark stain on your ceiling near the chimney? Probably failed flashing. We remove the old material, install new step and counter flashing, and seal everything properly. Stops leaks at the source.

Chimney Rebuilds

When repair isn't enough, we rebuild. From the roofline up or from the foundation - depends on how far the damage goes. New masonry, new liner, new cap, new flashing. Done right so you won't need us again for decades.

Chimney Animal Removal

Scratching sounds? Foul smell? Birds, squirrels, and raccoons love chimneys. We remove them humanely, clear out nesting material, and cap the flue so they can't get back in.

Fireplace Cleaning

Ash piling up in the firebox, soot on the damper, smoke stains on the surround - we clean it all. Includes the firebox, smoke shelf, and damper assembly. Your fireplace will look and work like it should.

Chimney Fireplace Repair

Smoke pouring into the room instead of going up? Damper stuck? Cracked smoke chamber? We diagnose the actual problem - not guess - and fix it. Most fireplace issues are straightforward once you know where to look.

Firebox Repair

Cracked firebricks and deteriorated refractory panels are more than cosmetic - they let heat reach combustible framing behind the wall. We replace damaged bricks and mortar with proper heat-rated materials.

Gas Fireplace Cleaning

Gas fireplaces still need annual service. Dust coats the burner and logs, the pilot assembly corrodes, and the glass fogs up. We clean the full unit - burner, pilot, glass, and venting - so it runs clean and stays under warranty.

Gas Fireplace Repair

Pilot won't stay lit? No heat? Remote stopped working? We troubleshoot gas fireplace issues from thermocouples to valve assemblies. Certified on all major brands - Heatilator, Lennox, Napoleon, Majestic, and more.

Wood Stove Repair

Door gaskets wear out, baffles warp, glass cracks. We service all wood stove brands - replace worn parts, adjust the door seal, and make sure your stove drafts correctly. Gets your heat output back where it should be.

Pellet Stove Repair

Auger jams, igniter failures, control board errors - pellet stoves have more moving parts than most people realize. We diagnose and repair the issue, clean the exhaust path, and get your stove feeding and burning properly again.

Duct Cleaning

Your HVAC pushes air through every duct in the house - along with whatever's living in them. Dust, pet dander, mold spores, construction debris. We clean the full system and you'll notice the difference in air quality immediately.

Dryer Duct Cleaning

Lint in your dryer vent is a fire waiting to happen - it's one of the top causes of house fires nationally. We clean the full run from the dryer to the exterior vent. Clothes dry faster, energy bill drops, fire risk gone.

Commercial Air Duct Cleaning

Restaurants, offices, multi-unit buildings - commercial ductwork collects grease, dust, and allergens at scale. We schedule after hours to keep your business running and bring your system up to health code standards.

Chimney Liner Installation

September 30, 2025 Commercial
Problem

Multiple deficiencies were observed: the brick chimney crown was extensively cracked and spalling with exposed clay tile and no effective cap, the existing chase cover and cap were heavily corroded and failing, and the interior metal flue damper showed heavy rust and soot buildup that suggested possible sticking. The system had an unprotected open flue and deteriorated components allowing water, debris and corrosion to continue.

Solution

Installed a new stainless-steel liner routed up the exterior wall, secured with a wall bracket and guy wires, and terminated with a new vent cap, tying the liner into the appliance through the side wall. Removed the old rusted chase cover and mushroom cap and replaced them with a new galvanized/chrome chase cover and wire-guard style chimney cap; installed a new black metal cap with integrated mesh on the brick flue and a stainless chase cap on the wood chase, sealing all edges. Performed a damper cleaning, lubrication and functional test and documented heavy corrosion, recommending full damper replacement and crown repair.

The chimney now has a properly installed stainless-steel liner and new caps/cover to improve draft and prevent water and debris entry; roofing penetrations and chase edges were sealed. Customer was advised to schedule crown replacement and a damper replacement to correct the remaining structural and corrosion issues for long-term safety.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions from Lanexa

I live in Lanexa, VA. What's a fair price for a standard chimney sweeping, and are there local factors that might change the cost? LOCAL

+

For a chimney service in Lanexa, VA, expect to pay between $225 and $350 for a standard Level 1 inspection and cleaning. The final fee can vary based on your chimney's specifics, such as whether your home has a complex older chimney or uses local hardwood that tends to create more creosote. If any significant blockages or complications arise, those could influence the overall cost. The best way to determine an accurate price is through an on-site assessment, where we can provide a detailed, no-obligation quote tailored to your chimney's condition.

With Lanexa's humid summers and unpredictable winters, when is the ideal time to schedule my annual chimney inspection and cleaning? LOCAL

+

In Lanexa, scheduling your chimney inspection and cleaning is best done between April and July. This allows you to avoid the rush that comes with the autumn months as temperatures drop. By getting the service completed early, you can clear any creosote buildup from the previous burning season before it worsens with summer humidity. Additionally, it’s wise to check for any wildlife that may have intruded into your chimney during the warmer months. This proactive approach aligns with the NFPA's recommendation for annual maintenance, ensuring that you're set for any unanticipated cold snaps ahead.

When is the best time of year to schedule a chimney cleaning in Lanexa, considering Virginia's unpredictable weather? LOCAL

+

The optimal time to schedule your chimney cleaning in Lanexa is during the late spring or summer, ideally from April to August. This period avoids the rush of appointments that flood in as fall approaches, allowing you to choose a time that works best for you. Scheduling during these months also enables us to clear any leftover creosote and inspect for potential issues before the rains begin, protecting your flue system from water damage. Plus, getting ahead ensures your fireplace is safe and cozy for the first hint of autumn chill.

I live near the Chickahominy River in Lanexa, and the humidity is always high. Does this create any special safety concerns for my chimney? LOCAL

+

In humidity-prone Lanexa, especially near the Chickahominy River, you need to be cautious about chimney safety. High moisture levels can accelerate the deterioration of your chimney’s masonry, leading to serious issues like flue liner degradation. Additionally, the combination of creosote and moisture creates a highly corrosive environment that increases fire risk. The Virginia Statewide Fire Prevention Code emphasizes annual inspections for a reason: they help mitigate these risks and detect early signs of damage. Prioritizing regular check-ups can prevent costly repairs and keep your family safe.

Do I need a permit from New Kent County for chimney repairs or a new fireplace installation in Lanexa? LOCAL

+

In Lanexa, most significant chimney projects do require a permit. New Kent County mandates permits for installing fireplaces, wood stoves, or chimney liners, as well as for major structural work. This isn't merely a procedural step; it's in place to enhance safety and compliance with the International Residential Code (IRC). Permits ensure that installation and structural modifications meet stringent safety standards for fire prevention and proper ventilation. While smaller repairs, like chimney cap replacements, often don’t need a permit, any significant changes will. Our experienced team can navigate the permitting process for you, assuring that all work is conducted safely and according to local regulations.
